5 (Different) Ideas For A Great Weekend

Weekends are precious for so many reasons. So why not give yours a little bit more thought for a whole lot more happiness. Here are some new ideas you might like to try.

1. Hang out with strangers

Parents from school, someone you met in yoga, a friend of a friend. This new connection can create some real excitement for your weekend. It’s a chance to reenergise yourself socially and potentially form a new, rewarding relationship. Someone else’s perspective, a shared sense of humour, a similar challenge, or a great life tip could be just what you need. Extending yourself socially is also a great way to boost your confidence and social skills.

2. Bring the holiday to you!

Having a holiday-ish weekend at home is not the same as actually going away… BUT, you can definitely create a great weekend by adding some holiday elements to it. So, think about what it is about holidays (the nitty-gritty stuff) that you really enjoy. You might create a holiday vibe by reading a new book on your deck, swimming at the local pool or beach, drinking something bubbly in a fancy glass or playing cards outside. Perhaps a delicious nasi goreng or paella will remind you of a favourite place. These small things can lift your weekend making it more enjoyable and memorable.

3. Choose your entertainment thoughtfully

Who doesn’t enjoy entertainment of some sort! With so many interesting options, it’s a chance to mindfully choose something that will enhance your weekend. Ask yourself what type of entertainment experience you’re after. Perhaps it’s a podcast about your hobby, maybe it’s an intriguing audiobook, it might be watching a fantastic series with your family, or even a night out: a local act, a big stage show, a night at the movies.

4. Go on a ‘date’ with your body

Lots of us live mostly in our heads and forget to nurture, nourish and thank our bodies for all their hard work. If that’s you, have a think about what you could do to treat, move, or help heal your body this weekend. Maybe that’s a run, a dawn or dusk walk, a stretch class, a massage, or a long soak in the tub or dip in the ocean. Perhaps you’d like to reward your body with a new, high energy activity like a boxing session or a dance class. Once you’ve done your chosen activity, savour that feeling of lightness and satisfaction and schedule in your next ‘date’ with your so-very-important body.

5. Dream and Plan (for the fun stuff)

With some time away from your desk and work demands on pause, you might like to vision and plan a little. Whether it’s writing a list of fun activities you’d like to try, working out the next steps for your side business, or setting a fitness or creativity goal, take some time to tune into what you’d like in your future and decide on what to do next.
